Tons of Wrestling Singlets added to WrestlingGear.Com

Within the next few weeks we will have all the available singlets from Nike, Asics, adidas, Brute, Matman and Cliff Keen wrestling singlets up on our site. Many of them have to be ordered over the phone or in person, because they are totally custom.

Do you have a design in mind? Many teams come to us with a design idea and we can take your team’s ideas and put them on a singlet. We have all our prices listed on each respective uniform web page. If you are ordering over 36 units, give us a call for a customized quote.

We classify our singlets into three categories. Sublimated, Custom Sewn and Stock singlets. Sublimated are the singlets where the design is dye’d into the fabric. They can feature any design you would like and the design can be very detailed. Take a look at our USA Wrestling Singlet. Custom Sewn singlets can be any color combination you pick. Do you have a team with colors like Purple or Maroon or Kelly Green? Well you can have any color combination you would like if you are willing to pay for Custom Sewn singlets. Here is an example of a Cliff Keen Custom Sewn singlet. And if you are in a hurry or on a budget or are just lucky enough that a Stock singlet will work for you, you can save money and time just ordering a stock wrestling singlet. Here is a Matman stock wrestling singlet.

Are you new to ordering wrestling singlets? Did someone on your wrestling team’s board ask for help in picking out this years singlet and you don’t know where to begin? A great place to start is to watch our videos – we have three videos that will answer all your questions about ordering wrestling singlets.

Just give us a call at 800-565-0995 and we can help you with your wrestling singlets for this up and coming season.

How to Buy Wrestling Shoes Online

When you are ready to buy wrestling shoes start at WrestlingGear.Com that is of course our first tip, but seriously there are a bunch of reasons. Some of our top selling wrestling shoes

  1. We offer a sizing guarantee. So you will get free shipping back and forth if you just need to exchange a pair of wrestling shoes.
  2. There is no place to get Nike, Asics, adidas, Double Sport, and Matman wrestling shoes other then WrestlingGear.Com
  3. Each and every wrestling shoe has sizing recommendations. So we tell you how they should fit and we tell you how to order them. We don’t even need to see you to tell you what shoe to start out with. All we need is your normal gym shoe size and we will be able to tell you what wrestling shoe to start out with.
  4. Final reason to buy is you will be able to see your wrestling shoes from a variety of angles and several wrestling shoes pages have videos where we will show you a 360 degree view of the shoe along with what we like and what we don’t like about a wrestling shoe. Than you can decide what you want in a shoe.

I suspect many of you reading this article have never bought wrestling shoes before or have not bought wrestling shoes in quite some time. So we are going to start out with some basics. This is the process I take my customers through that come into our store. Of course we can’t size your foot, but we have been selling online since 1998 and sizing people over the phone and web so we know how to do this without seeing your athlete. The main piece of knowledge you need is your wrestler’s normal gym shoe size. Have your wrestler try on the gym shoes in front of you. Make note if they fit, if it’s time for a new pair of gym shoes than get those fit or start with what you think your wrestler will be wearing. This step is very important to figuring out what shoes you are looking for. Many shoes do come in all sizes.

The next step is to figure out what shoes you can buy. We have two general sizing groups. Youth and Adult wrestling shoes. Generally youth wrestling shoes start at a 10K or 10 Toddler up until about a size 5 or size 6.0. So a normal size run for what we consider a Youth wrestling shoe is 10 Toddler, 11 Toddler, 12 Toddler, 12.5 Toddler (Nike only)), 13 Toddler, 1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0. Now all shoes do not come in half sizes. Some only come in whole sizes. What I would recommend if you are just starting out the search is to start at our Youth Wrestling Shoes page. Then figure out what shoes you like. In general, you will need to add a half size to your normal gym shoe size. So if you are a size 1.0 in a gym shoe, you will be looking at a size 1.5. Or if you are a 10 Toddler, you will want to go up to the next available size which would be an 11 Toddler in most shoes.

Adult wrestling shoes normally will come in the following sizes, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 10.0, 10.5, 11.0, 11.5, 12.0, 12.5, 13.0, 14.0, 15.0. We currently offer all those shoes in that size run. Only one shoe comes in a size 16.0, 17.0, and 18.0. Look for us to carry those shoes in 2011-2012 wrestling season.

Once you do some research and you have narrowed it down to a particular size and color. You can use general size guidelines – just confirm the sizing recommendations for that particular shoe. For example, if you have decided to look for a blue wrestling shoes. Type in wrestling shoes in our search box. Then you can pull up all the blue wrestling shoes by using the drop downs in the Refine Your Search section at the top of the search results. Then say you are a size 5.0 wrestling shoes. Select a size 5.5 and our site will pull up all the size wrestling shoes that should fit you that come in Blue.

If you have narrowed down your search to a particular brand, search for that particular brand. Type in “brand wrestling shoes.” For brands we carry Nike, adidas, Asics, Double Sport and Matman. If you want to narrow down your search by size. For Nike, add a full size to your wrestlers normal gym shoe. For adidas, add a 1/2 size to most shoes. The adistars (the high end shoe), runs true to fit so those we recommend ordering just your normal gym shoe size. For Asics, add a 1/2 size to all shoes. For Double Sport, add a 1/2 size. And for Matman wrestling shoes, add a 1/2 size to your normal gym shoe or sneakers.

You can also use the Refinement drop downs to only pull up a certain price range you are looking at. So say you only want to spend $50, select the $35 to $60 price range and our site will pull up just those shoes in that price range.

Wide Wrestling Shoes

Wrestlers tend to have wide feet so don’t worry that your wrestler has wide feet. We have wide wrestling shoes that will work for you. I write with experience, I have wrestled and coached for over 25 years and wear a EEE in a dress shoe. For the most part if you have a EE or EEE width in a gym shoe or dress shoe, you should be fine looking at wrestling shoes that do not have zippers. adidas wrestling shoes and Nike tend to be cut a little wider than Asics, although we have some customers that swear Asics wrestling shoes fit their wide feet the best.

If your budget allows it, spend a little more money on your shoes as the more expensive ones will stretch a little better.

Now if your wrestler is a EEEE or EEEE width or even a bigger EEE width, you probably do want to look at our wide wrestling shoes. With the understanding that even our wide wrestling shoes are only about a EEE width. So no matter what shoe you buy, it’s going to be tight out of the box. You will just have to stretch it out. Usually leaving the laces loose when you first get the shoes will allow the shoes to stretch out over time.

Sometimes if you have a real wide foot you may need to go up a full gym shoe size instead of the half gym shoe. This will give you some additional width in the larger shoe, but this also means there will be more room in the toe. It’s a balancing act between width and length. So say your gym shoe is a 11.0 EEE, you will likely want to start out with a 12.0 EEE in our wide shoes.

Let us know what we missed and we will add it to this blog post…leave a comment below this post.

Hot New 2010 – 2011 Wrestling Shoes

Are these going to be the hottest shoes this season?

So what shoes are you looking at for the 2010 – 2011 wrestling shoes?

We have our thoughts, but what are your thoughts on what are going to be the hot wrestling shoes.

What shoes are thinking about purchasing? What brand maybe if you don’t know the particular shoe.

Hot Top Wrestling Gear

If you want to get some of the hottest wrestling gear, you better act sooner than later.

Some hot items like our Asics Gear Bags are just about out in our store and are out at Asics. Black and Gold Rulon Wrestling Shoes and Black and Red Rulon Wrestling shoes are just about out (although we will be getting a few more in each of the next couple months). Royal Blue Rulon’s have been out at Asics for quite some time.

Talking about adidas, if you want a Classix headgear those are out in many top colors and White Black Cejudo Vapor Speed wrestling shoes are gone in most sizes. We have both of these hot products left in a few colors and sizes.

Top Nike wrestling shoes are gone. A good substitute that has been a hot seller for those people looking for the Nike Inflict wrestling shoes is the Nike Takedown wrestling shoes. Look for a large shipment of Nike wrestling shoes in June 2010. Don’t wait on anything Nike – it will be in short supply come the start of the season. Also, if you are looking for an 11.5 we just added those to the site so get them while you can.

Here are a few photos of what we were talking about:

Black Red Rulon Wrestling Shoes

These are going fast. Do not wait on these shoes

Black and Gold Rulon Wrestling Shoes

Hey if the University of Iowa wears them...maybe you should too.

Nike Takedown Wrestling Shoes Black and White

Good alternative to the Inflict.

That’s about it for today what else do you want to talk about?

Survey should take about 5 minutes to complete. Look at the shoes first, then write down your choice, then complete the survey.

2010 – 2011 Wrestling Shoes from Nike, Asics, and adidas

New Aggressor Wrestling Shoes

Survey – we’ll pick T-shirts winners! The pdf file that you can download (titled above 2010 – 2011 Wrestling Shoes from Nike, Asics, and adidas) will have all the shoes in the planned lineup for next season.

Find out how much each shoe is likely going to sell for and many of these shoes we will have available to buy in middle of February or early March. Most of the new shoes featured will ship around July 2010 (many times earlier).

New Wrestling Gear for 2010-2011

Nike
As of now, there is no new gear planned prior to August 2010. However, there does appear a high likeliehood that in June 2010 we will have Nike Inflicts in Red, Royal Blue, and Grey (3 different colors). If we receive our shipment, we will have a nice inventory level in those shoes. However, these shoes sold out last year over the summer in many sizes. We likely will have them up for pre-order in March.

Also, it appears there will a few new colors of the Nike Takedown. We are still waiting on official word that we are definitely getting these in June 2010. We will likely start pre-selling these as well in March.

Asics
So long Rulon wrestling shoes. They will now be known as Aggressor’s. The styling will be very similar to the Rulon’s and will have improvements to the function of the shoe. We have photos up on Facebook if you are interested. Also, there will be a Split Second 8 coming out in what I think are some cool colors (this usually means the high school kids won’t like them).

Finally, look for a new Asics headgear coming out in July/August as well. Everyone is trying to find an answer to the Cliff Keen Tornado. That answer might be the Cliff Keen Signature (both top selling headgears). We’ll see what you think about it when we get our samples. Look for youtube shows when we get some samples.

adidas/Brute
Not too much information here. Have not really heard too much about their 2010 – 2011 line. Other than the Combat Speed III which will have a retail price around $45. The bottom looks identical or at the very least very similar to the bottom of the Combat Speed II (circa 2004). Can’t believe this is going to be their low end shoe, but I suspect they want to be competitive with the Nike Speedsweep that sells for around $42.

Wrestling Gear Ideas for New Wrestlers (and Parents)

The first thing I ask when a customer enters our store is what are you looking for and what team do you wrestle for?

This gives me an idea generally of what colors to look for and what products to look at. I write about products that a new wrestler might be interested in based on what these people that come into the store like when they are new wrestlers. I’ll assume you are looking at Black (and can find the colors that you are looking for). You can do searches for the products and then refine them based on your color choices.

As a parent of young children (who are also trying sports I have no idea or experience in buying gear), I sort of wrote this for the parent whose kids come home and say I want to try wrestling and I need some gear. I was clueless looking for sporting equipment for one of my sons new sports so I tried to offer some insight into what to look for in your child’s new wrestling gear.

Here is our top selling new wrestling shoe. Based on it’s price (only about $41, it’s a neutral color – black and it’s a brand name your kids won’t be embarrassed to wear – Nike). The downsides of this shoe is it only comes in black and it not as technically advanced as our more expensive shoes (but it can’t have all the technology of the more expensive shoe at this price). One thing I will make a comment on if your wrestler has a wide foot – this shoe is not for them and nor is the adidas Velcro shoe that is their cheapest shoe. We’d recommend if your wrestler is a wide foot and a small size and you want something cheap to look at Asics Mat Flex 2 for the youth and adult Matflex 2. Generally Asics is not the widest shoe out there but it is the widest and cheapest. Another option would be the Matman line with laces – the Youth Ultra Wrestling Shoes or Adult Ultra Wrestling Shoes. Matman generally run a little wider than the other shoes at this price point.

Next often times they need headgear and kneepads. Headgear is usually a must unless the team provides it so be sure to ask your coach before you buy it. What we find a lot of times is coaches will have hand me down headgears or just the rock bottom cheapest headgear they can give you just to provide you with a basic option.

We recommend if you are a first year wrestler and want just basic protection, check out the Asics Jr Gel or Gel if you are a bigger athlete. They provide basic protection, are cheap, a brand name for wrestling (Asics is a very well known brand for wrestling although not that well known as say Nike or adidas outside the wrestling community). What we also like about his head gear is it’s small enough so it’s fits the kids that are peanuts but can also fit an older wrestler as well.

You might ask why the heck we put the most expensive headgear on this list as well. The reason, you only get one set of ears and only one head to go with them. I guess you can get plastic surgery on your ears but we say if you are going to spend any money on a first year wrestlers gear, spend it on the headgear. The Tornado is by far our most popular headgear. It’s comfortable, your kids will be able to hear their coaches, and it comes in a bunch of colors (at least in the adult size). It only comes in 4 color combinations in the youth size. Drawbacks is it will cost you $30 at least no matter where you shop. One thing to think about comfort is your kid will wear it in practice. I joke when people come in the store and touch my ears – I always wore my headgear in practice and of course you are required to in matches.

As far as kneepads, at this price point – under $20. Kneepads are basically knee pads, we picked two of our top selling knee pads. There are other similar variations to look at in this under $20 price point. The other thing to consider is size. If you got a little wrestler, look at the Asics and Matman kneepads below. They will fit even a wrestler down to 40 lbs (speak from experience on this one – my little wrestler is about 40 lbs right now). The Asics kneepads do give sizing recommendations for their kneepads.
